Scott Rowell, a professional local artist who specializes in acrylic and oil paintings featuring animals, has been selected as the second artist to create the pup portraits that will hang at the new White Dog Chester Springs in Exton, set to open in 2024. There are 20 spots available.

The painting sizes include 6x8, 8x10, 12x12, and 12x14 and range in price from $500 to $1000 with a portion of the proceeds going to Alpha Bravo Canine,™ Philadelphia’s first and only 501(c)3 organization that donates service dogs to US veterans suffering from debilitating medical and psychological problems as a result of their active combat duty.

Upon founding his business www.wagthebrush.com doing pet portraits ( dogs, cat, and horses) commissions, Rowell said he married his passions, “I cannot imagine a better fate than rescuing animals and painting pets as long as I can save the tails and wag the brush.” Rowell added, “I got into painting dogs because we (my wife and I) have rescued all of our dogs, and immortalizing our beloved friends on canvas and in a prominent place in our home was important to me.”

A lifelong artist, Scott has penned comic strips in small publications, crafted various book covers in his youth, designed concert t-shirts for bands, and he has written and illustrated a children's book. He studied art and architecture at the University of Toronto.  While living in Bermuda, he was the head set painter for the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society.
